Use generators safely
- Operate outdoors, at least 20 feet from doors, windows and vents.
- Never connect a generator directly to household wiring without approved transfer equipment.
- Let the generator cool before refueling and keep fuel outside living areas.
Prepare before storms arrive
Keep flashlights, batteries, drinking water, medications and a battery-powered radio ready. Charge devices and know how to manually open your garage door.
